چکیده

This paper is an attempt at providing a fuzzy set-based formalization of case-based reasoning. The proposed approach, which does not take into account the learning aspects of case-based reasoning, assumes a principle stating that "the more similar are the problem description attributes, the more similar are the outcome attributes". A weaker form of this principle concluding only on the graded possibility of the similarity of the outcome attributes, is also considered. These two forms of the case-based reasoning principle are modelled in terms of fuzzy rules. Then an approximate reasoning machinery taking advantage of this principle enables us to apply the information stored in the memory of previous cases to the current problem.

A similarity-based theory of CBR-II A similarity-based Theory of Case-based Reasoning-II

This work is the second part of a general similarity-based theory of case-based reasoning (CBR), which moves CBR towards a firm theoretical foundation based on similarity-based reasoning. This paper will first examine abductive CBR and deductive CBR and propose a knowledge-based model for integrating abductive CBR and deductive CBR. It then proposes similarity-based models for rule-based and fu...

Fuzzy Dissimilarity Learning in Case-Based Reasoning

Case-based reasoning (CBR) attempts to solve new problems by using previous experiences. However traditional CBR systems are restricted by the similarity requirement, i.e., the availability of similar cases to new problems. This paper proposes a novel CBR approach that exploits dissimilarity information in problem solving. A fuzzy dissimilarity model consisting of fuzzy rules has been developed...

Control and Navigation with Knowledge Bases

In this paper, we focus on the use of knowledge bases in two different application areas – control of systems with unknown or strongly nonlinear models (i.e. hardly controllable by the classical methods), and robot motion planning in eight directions. The first one deals with fuzzy logic and the paper presents approaches for setting and aggregating the rules of a knowledge base. Te second one i...

A New Case-Based Reasoning Method Based on Dissimilar Relations

Learning relations of objects has recently emerged as a new promising trend for supervised machine learning. Case-based reasoning (CBR) is a subfield of machine learning, which attempts to solve new problems by reusing previous experiences. There is a close link between learning of relations and case-based reasoning in the sense that relation analysis between cases is a core task in a CBR proce...

Reinforcing fuzzy rule-based diagnosis of turbomachines with case-based reasoning

This paper presents an integrated knowledge-based system, which combines fuzzy rule-based reasoning with case-based reasoning, for turbomachinery diagnosis. By incorporating a casebased reasoning sub-system in a fuzzy rule-based system, the integrated system allows past experience to be applied in a more direct way. This helps improve the diagnostic accuracy of the rulebased system. This approa...
